What is a SIP?
A systematic investment plan is a way to invest a fixed amount at regular intervals. This calculator models monthly contributions to a hypothetical investment. It does not choose a Bangladesh mutual fund or share, predict its return, or place an order. Contributions and results are expressed in BDT.
How the SIP formula works
Let P be the monthly contribution, n the number of months and i the equivalent monthly return. For end-of-month contributions, FV = P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) / i. Beginning-of-month contributions multiply that value by (1 + i). When i = 0, FV = P × n.
The annual rate is effective: an annual assumption of 12% becomes about 0.9489% per month, rather than 1%. The selected timing affects growth because an earlier contribution is invested for an extra month.
Worked example in Bangladeshi taka
With ৳5,000 invested at the beginning of every month for 10 years and a constant effective annual return of 10%, total contributions are ৳600,000. The estimated final value is ৳1,007,288, including approximately ৳407,288 of growth. These are mathematical projections, before fees and taxes.
How to use the calculator
- Enter the amount you intend to contribute each month.
- Choose an expected effective annual return and the number of years.
- Select beginning or end of month to match your contribution schedule.
- Compare contributions, gain or loss, and final value; download all monthly rows if needed.
SIP planning for Bangladesh investors
Use a return assumption that you can explain, then test a lower or negative return as well. Actual share and fund returns fluctuate. Dividend reinvestment, management charges and taxes can change the amount received. This constant-return model does not account for inflation, missed payments, changing contribution amounts or transaction costs.
Frequently asked questions
Is a SIP return guaranteed?
No. The entered return is an assumption. Real investments can lose value, and the estimated final value is not a promised maturity amount.
Does this calculator use annual return divided by 12?
No. It converts an effective annual rate using i = (1 + annual rate)^(1/12) − 1, then applies that monthly rate.
Can I use BDT instead of Indian rupees?
Yes. Every amount on this StockView calculator is in Bangladeshi taka. No Indian tax or product rules are applied.
What happens at zero return?
The final value equals the monthly contribution multiplied by the number of months.
